Privacy policy

Waste Carrier Licensing is an independent waste carrier, broker and dealer registration checking and submission service operating in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at support@waste-licence.org.uk.

• Your name, email address and phone number.
• Business details: trading name, business type, company registration number and registered or trading address.
• The registration tier you are applying for and any options you select.
• Declarations about relevant environmental offences or convictions, where you are asked to provide them.
• Payment confirmation details from our payment provider. We never receive or store your full card number.
• Basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, used for security and to keep the service working.

• To perform our contract with you — checking your application, submitting it to the Environment Agency, taking payment and sending your confirmation.
• Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries, preventing fraud, keeping records and improving the service.
• Legal obligation — keeping accounting and tax records, and responding to lawful requests from regulators.

Conviction and offence declarations are handled only where necessary to submit a valid registration, and are shared only with the Environment Agency.

• The Environment Agency, to register you.
• Our payment provider, to take and confirm your payment securely.
• Our hosting, database and email providers, who process data on our behalf.
• Professional advisers or authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party marketing.

We keep application and order records for seven years, to meet accounting requirements and to support you across the life of a three year registration. After that, records are securely deleted. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are normally deleted within 24 months.

Your data is stored on access-controlled, encrypted infrastructure. Order confirmations are held in private storage and are only accessible to authorised staff and through time-limited secure links.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email support@waste-licence.org.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We use only the cookies needed to keep the site secure, maintain your application session and process your payment. We do not use advertising cookies.
